Introduction

It's no secret that AMD is looking to release an update to its nine-month-old Radeon HD 4870 line in the very near future, but the fastest card remains - and will remain for some time, it seems - the Radeon HD 4870 X2.

In the face of an ever-decreasing pound that has seen prices of electrical goods actually go up in recent months, the X2 variant has remained steady at around £340. Expensive, yes, but still cheaper than the £400+ GeForce GTX 295.

XFX, recently manufacturing for both camps, reckons that its X2 is a good deal, shipping at around £340. Let's find out.
