In the desktop space, the shrink to 14nm is expected to bring with it reasonable gains in power efficiency. System-wide power draw during CPU-intensive workloads is down by almost 10 per cent compared to the Core i7-4790K, though that saving is offset by heightened power draw when gaming with the more potent Iris Pro IGP.
