1080p Gaming Performance

Now we turn our attention to gaming. Set to ultra-quality and with a GeForce GTX 780 Ti providing the graphics horsepower, it appears as if frequency is more important than cores.

The same is true of BioShock Infinite, where the Core i7-5960X, running a maximum 3.5GHz, provides mid-pack performance.

There are a few games that can take advantage of more cores and threads. Total War: Rome II is one of them, with the Core i7-5960X 14 per cent faster than the similar speed Core i7-3960X.
