Power Consumption

Recent platforms have become far more energy efficient. These numbers represent a full system with a GeForce GTX 780 Ti. X99 is pretty good in this regard.

2D load is defined as the highest number seen when running the HandBrake test. The sample Core i7-5960X runs at just 0.976V by default. This means a rather impressive load figure for a 16-thead chip. What's more, with the massive Noctua cooler on top, temperatures rarely exceed 50°C.

Gaming power consumption is measured by seeing the highest figure during the Batman: Arkham Origin test. There's no beating the regular Haswell chips in this regard, but again, the Core i7-5960X is impressive.
