Benchmarks: Power Consumption

Power consumption can have a lot to do with the motherboard used, and the Gigabyte F2-A85X-UP4 run with the AMD APUs proves to be particularly frugal when idle.

With every available CPU core placed under load, we're interested in seeing how much more efficient the A10-6700 is when compared to the A10-6800K. We see system-wide power consumption drop by almost 20 per cent, from 89 watts to 73 watts.

The extra level of efficiency is even more pronounced when the IGP is called into action. In this scenario, system-wide power draw is reduced from 118 watts when using the A10-6800K to just 74 watts when using the A10-6700: a near-40-per cent reduction.
