The question of how well Ryzen 7 works as a gaming CPU has been one that is generating the most interest. We test with SMT enabled, in default eight-core, 16-thread form, though it is now known that Ryzen 7 actually benchmarks better with it disabled for gaming.

Futuremark numbers show that Ryzen 7 1700 performs between a Core i5 and four-core Core i7 chip in these tests, and appreciating the Core i7-7700K is priced at the same kinds of levels, that comparison is most valid.
