Afterburner

There are many athlon overclocking cards out there and we have already tested 2 of them these are the Maximiser and the Freespeed, both of which were good, but how should one select one ? Well at the end of the day what functionality do you need? We have found a card which is very useful to you the end user. Instead of using dip-switches it has a series of dials.

Features:

3 Rotary dials
Power cord
Documentation

Installation:
This was very easy to install, there was a single sheet of A4 with paper with all of the instructions, but similar idea to the maximiser it lay down the edge of the cpu pcb, this one lay along the top.

Here are the steps taken to fit it, and trust you dont need too!

Step 1 - Remove the plastic case on your Athlon. Be very careful at this step!

Step 2 - Peel over the adhesive pad and carefully align the connectors from the Afterburner to the Athlon.

Step 3 - Push down gently

Step 4 - Connect the power cords

Performance:
The performance in all honeslty was the same as with all of the GFD cards, buit there is a unique feature, this is that it uses rotary switches rather than DIP switches, which means you can adjust it whilst the cpu is still in the case rather than taking out the card.

Instead of being a short stubby card this card is a long pcb which is better as it can lie along the top of the cpu.

The Afterburner does exactly what it's supposed to do. Outside Loop gets a smack on the back. These guys managed to adapt the usual idea and develop something new.

Price: The price for the Afterburner from Outside Loop is $69 + Shipping/Handling. This is pretty expensive compared to other cards, i think that it is ok as it is slighty better it is a longer design and it has slightly higher build quality.

Outside Loop has designed a reliable card that anyone can use due to the rotary switches. There is a slight expense here on the card, but hey it is cool.
