Performance

The MasterCase 5 was benchmarked on a hot summer's day but had no problem cooling our overclocked Core i5-3570K. An actual temperature of 63.3ºC is very respectable, and the delta temperature (that's actual temperature minus the ambient) is among the best in our lineup. There may be only two fans as standard, however there's a plentiful supply of air.

Indeed, the front-to-back airflow appears to be working a treat. The small hard-disk cage is high enough not to obstruct the front 140mm intake, providing a clear path over the dual SLI graphics cards. The GPUs didn't throttle throughout our benchmark run and the temperature readings are good for a stock configuration.

Have we found a weak spot? Potentially. Cooler Master's default three-pin fans aren't the best when it comes to keeping noise levels down to a minimum, and given the choice we'd be inclined to swap them out for PWM fans. Who knows, perhaps sound-dampened side panels and low-noise fans will one day be offered as optional MasterCase upgrades.
