Final Thoughts and Rating

NZXT is getting a lot of things right and has shown consistency in producing high-end chassis that offer an admirable blend of performance and usability.

The real question, we suppose, is which is the better chassis: the new Phantom 630 or last month's Phantom 820?

Unfortunately, after plenty of analysis and benchmarks, we're still struggling to settle on a definitive answer. On the one hand, the Phantom 820 has better cable management, a multi-channel fan controller and integrated HUE LED lighting. On the other hand, the Phantom 630 is almost every bit as spacious, has two dedicated 2.5in SSD mounts, modular hard-disk cages, and it costs £30 less at retail.

The Phantom 630 is feature-packed and fun to work with, but NZXT now has two full-tower Phantom enclosures that excel in different ways and yet contrive to fall short of absolute perfection. Both offer excellent out-the-box cooling performance with real scope for expansion, yet both suffer from fragile drive trays that have no place in premium £150+ chassis.

Still, NZXT is getting a lot of things right and has shown consistency in producing high-end chassis that offer an admirable blend of performance and usability. Should NZXT continue on this path and iron out the few remaining kinks, a Phantom 7xx-series chassis could really be something.

The Good

Great cooling performance
Integrated fan controller
Dedicated rear I/O panel light
Spacious interior
Removable hard-disk cages
Two dedicated SSD mounts

The Bad

Fragile drive trays
Up-and-over cable routing is tight
Phantom 820 is available for £30 more

Seems a bit odd to compare this, a £160 case, to cases costing less than a third of the price. You'd expect it to perform well against most of those cases.
The fragile drive trays are deal breaker for that money too…
The cost is still a tad to high I think. but for enthusiasts I believe that this ideally suited. nice cable management, nice look.
Sweet looking case, but far too expensive imo.
I think at 160 its too much, but with it popping up for 130 at times its a reasonable buy for the case design and its features. Of course, the quality might not be up there with Corsair and the like, but its still a great case IMO
Good looking case but too much plastics. I they can do away with most plastics. Make it a case with 3x120 front intake fans, remove the side panel fan and put a cast 5mm-10mm acrylic panel (the thickness blocks noise pretty well) make sure the top has the ability to accept 3x140mm fans and bottom 2x140mm fans. Have 3 motherboard tray drive mounts and voila, I'd pay $250 for this kind of a case. Here in Canada this case goes for 175 and as high as 195 and I'd rather pass all of their cases and get the giant Corsair Obsidian 900D due out next week or SS FT02W Black with USB 3.0!
