Final thoughts and rating

If you were expecting eccentric ideas and a bold new design, the P280 isn't the chassis for you. In true Performance One Series fashion, Antec has ignored the frills and paid attention to the features that matter most.

The exterior aesthetics are pleasant but not eye-catching, while the interior layout delivers exactly what you'd hope for from a Ā£120 high-performance case; it's roomy, quiet, well laid out, easy to work with and offers a tremendous number of expansion capabilities.

Whereas other chassis have attempted to deliver a certain amount of wow factor through unorthodox designs and jaw-dropping good looks, Antec's P280 keeps it simple, and we've come to appreciate the laid-back approach.

We were never enthralled during our time with the P280, and it didn't attract the attention of passers by, but the chassis gets many of the fundamentals right and it definitely puts Antec back on track.

Bottom line: The P280 isn't quite a showstopper, but it's a very well-rounded chassis that touts high-end features and low-noise operation in a simple, sophisticated frame.

The Good

Good performance
Great cable management
Noise levels can be kept in check
Loads of internal room
Support for XL-ATX boards
Nine expansion slots

The Bad

No support for 280mm radiators
Front door feels flimsy

Looks good but a shame it doesnt have a triple grill top panel to add a triple rad on top
Out of interest, what would everyone consider to be the P280's main rivals?
