Final thoughts and rating

Thermaltake's Level 10 GT has been a tough chassis to evaluate. When it first emerged from its gargantuan box, we couldn't help but feel disappointed by the fact that it didn't provide the instant wow factor associated with its predecessor. We had to double check the packaging to make sure we hadn't received a cheap Chinese knock-off.

This new installment in the Level 10 range isn't revolutionary, it isn't crafted to look like a piece of art, and it won't set hearts aflutter.

But once we managed to get past that lacklustre first impression, we found ourselves slowly warming to the Level 10 GT's subtle touches. Sure, it might be the uglier, cheaper and less-trendy little brother, but it's far more sensible, it doesn't require funding from your bank manager and it performs well, too.

The back-to-basics design has lost the essence of the original Level 10, but in its place, something new and fun has been born. The aesthetics, obviously, are an acquired taste, but if you've taken a liking to its unique charms, you'll find the enclosure's capacity and well-thought-out features to be highly rewarding. We didn't expect to be saying this, but you know what, this has turned out to be a pretty cool, albeit pricey, high-performance chassis.

The Good

Ample room for high-end components
Excellent cable management
Hot-swappable drive bays
Good out-the-box cooling
Integrated security locks

The Bad

Different breed to the original Level 10
Looks are an acquired taste
Will cost over Ā£200

I want to hate this for what it is - an excellent and unique concept but evolved and turned into a mass market product, but the final photo has changed my mind -

It just doesn't look that well made or mod-able. As the review said “Cheap chinese knockoff” comes to mind…
Even uglier than the original!

:puke:
Looks just like a piece of the Citadel from HL2, oh and I think it looks ugly as sin.
The original was superb looking, this is just plasticky and ****!
its like a Mondeo with BMW body parts welded on…
