ASUS has announced a new gaming PC called the G11. This 33 litre PC is specified with an Intel Core i7-6700 processor and GPUs up to and including an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980. It comes as standard with an M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 solid-state drive, DDR4 memory, and 10Gbit/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 connections. Its 'futuristic' 8-million-colour LED light enhanced design is inspired by Mayan artefacts.
ASUS ROG says the reason it has created the G11 is; "Just because you are not interested in building doesn't mean you are not interested in an awesome-looking gaming rig". Furthermore, if you choose to specify the GeForce GTX 980 graphics card you can have a 4K gaming PC, or 3x HD gaming displays, straight out of the box. On the subject of graphics cards, the choice appears to between the GTX 980 4GD5, GTX 970 4GD5, GTX 960 2GD5, GTX 950 2GD5, and GTX 745 4GD3. A 300W or 500W PSU is fitted depending upon your component choices.
Looking at other key performance components, the G11 uses the faster, more efficient DDR4 RAM. ASUS claims its M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD storage provides data access speeds of up to 2Gbit/s, "four times faster than SATA SSDs". Users will also have access to 10Gbit/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for double the data transfer rates of USB 3.0. A Blu-ray writer is installed. Built-in wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. For sound you have 7.1 audio bolstered by ASUS SonicMaster and ROG AudioWizard.
As mentioned in the intro, this PC isn't one of the ever-more common compact variety; it has 33 litre capacity and weighs in at close to 10Kg. The front face of the chassis comes alive with the 8-million-colour LED array providing ambient and pulsing light effects. Buyers get a complimentary wireless chiclet gaming keyboard with backlighting. ASUS supplies the machine with its Aegis II gaming utility which can facilitate easy gameplay recording and sharing. Pricing and availability is yet to be detailed.
