HP introduces the hd100 external
HD DVD-ROM drive
23rd November 2006 - EINDHOVEN, THE NETHERLANDS, November 2006 - HP announces its first next-generation optical drive: a high-speed external drive that reads HD DVD-ROM, DVD±R/±RW and ±R double-layer discs, as well as CD-R/RW and CD-ROM discs.
HP's external HD DVD-ROM drive lets you enjoy your favorite HD DVD movies on your PC and experience the full power of high-definition (HD) movie playback. Over 100 HD DVD movie titles have been released by the top eight Hollywood movie studios. The hd100 can playback these HD DVD movie discs at an HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. HD DVD provides spectacular HD pictures with six times better resolution than standard DVD and extraordinary sound.
HD DVD technology enables the use of new and exiting advanced interactivity features. Examples include the ability of access broadband internet even while a movie is playing or while watching your movie, bookmark your current location - it's saved even after your disc is ejected. Possible interactivity features include the ability to chat online, click on a product and be linked to a website where you can buy it, view live broadcasts or play games that are seamlessly integrated into the movie.
