Style is a matter of opinion, and no doubt some of you will find Silverstone's latest 3.5" external hard drive enclosures less than appealing, while others amongst you will consider them a fashion must (well, maybe not quite that extreme.)

So, what's the deal with the MS01 enclosures from Silverstone? Available in black or silver(y), they appear to have brushed aluminium casing. There's a fan to keep the drive inside cool and that most common of external interfaces, USB 2.0, is used by the IDE internal bridge.

Enclosure

With plenty of enclosures like this on the market already, it'll be interesting to see how Silverstone's offering fares. Some enclosures are bordering on ugly, so perhaps those who prefer a bit of brushed aluminium in their lives will go for the MS01s?

They also do a 2.5" version

They all look nice, though it has to be said, that these along with IcyBoxes, and Vantec all do the same thing. After all, a enclosure is an enclosure.

The only thing that concerns me is the noisy of the (small) fan.

Would also be nice if a manufacturer could innovate by improving disapation or dampening to the internal drive to provide some sort of shock aborbsing system.
yeah, pity they have a fan in them…

Silverstone seem to have the best designers around, most of their kit seems to look great (I have a TJ06 case and its looks lovely :D )
Uhh, I think that looks horrible! Big, bulbous curved jobbie… I like the plain simplicitiy of the LaCie Porsche jobbies. Shame they don't sell them seperately.
Very stylish.
