Coolspin technology, spinning at estimates of 5,400rpm or 5,900rpm.

Though the drives are immediately available to purchase, Hitachi has only announced their availability officially today.

According to the press release, the 4TB drives provide “33 percent more capacity compared to current 3TB drives, the Deskstar 5K4000 drive features innovative CoolSpin technology, expanding this class of performance-optimized, energy-efficient drives that run cooler and require less power.

The internal hard drives will be available outside of Japan in Q1 2012.

No 4TB from Western Digital? :woowoo:
Only 32MB cache, that seems a little tight. Surely 64 MB would be more suitable?

Why the celebration? I'm guessing now's not the time for WD to be launching new products.
Wasn't so much a celebration…..more of a silly smilie TBH…Just trying to glean at least a small amount of fun amidst the cluster%^&* that is todays HDD market!
thank god,, i got a mATX enclosure,, this will help my storage issues out – also running quite low on sata ports,, helping me out again..

can only take 4 HDD + 1 SSD internally,, leaving my DVD drive as IDE for now helps,,
