In a video urging us to 'Experience the power of DirectX 12' Microsoft seeks to show off the resplendent 'unparalleled graphic fidelity' afforded by its latest graphics API. The theme of this particular video appears to be the uplift in performance facilitated by using DX12, compared to its predecessor DX11. Microsoft explains that "DirectX 12 is a ground-breaking Microsoft technology that gives game developers the ability to harness the full capabilities of a PC’s GPU(s) and raise the bar on graphic fidelity and immersive gameplay."
To prove its point we get to see the eye-candy on several upcoming blockbuster video games titles including the likes of Quantum Break, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Ashes of the Singularity, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Just Cause 3 and more.
In the video, embedded above, Microsoft promises DirectX 12 will furnish PC gamers with up to a 20 per cent increase in GPU performance and up to a 50 per cent improvement in overall CPU usage, with users enjoying reduced latency and smoother frame rates thanks to this. Furthermore you can't help but notice throughout the video the quality difference in DX11 and new DX12 graphics are pretty significant, especially with respect to particle and lighting effects shown.
Summing it all up, in a statement bound to split opinions, Microsoft heralds Windows 10 with DirectX 12, as "the best Windows ever for gaming".
