Taiwanese computer chassis, thermal solutions, and power supply specialist Thermaltake has announced a pair of new computer power supplies which are digitally controlled and monitored via a software application on your Windows-based PC. The Thermaltake Toughpower DPS 850W and 750W power supplies are described as “an intelligent platform of energy management” by the company.
The ‘DPS’ acronym stands for “digital power supply”. Thermaltake says that the “revolutionary” DPS 850W and DPS 750W allows users to; monitor the cost of electricity used by their PCs, monitor and keep a database of your PC status, share your PC power statistics via various social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
The Thermaltake DPS software application, which works in a multitude of languages, shows much more than those headline abilities highlighted above. A user can choose real-time views or time charts of the following data supplied by the app; Amps, Volts, Efficiency, Watts, Temperature, Fan speed and Cost.
The software purpose isn’t just for watching, recording and sharing as users has digital fan control of the PSU through the app. You can monitor the speed of the fan, adjust it to your preference and choose between silent and performance modes depending upon your preferences.
Looking at more traditional PSU functionality the ToughPower DPS 850W and DPS 750W have the following specifications:

The full modular cable design is great for keeping case clutter to a minimum and can improve air flow within your PC chassis. Also these power supplies have high output capability but offer good light-load efficiency and deliver “up to 87%-92% efficiency under real world load conditions”. We don’t have prices or availability for these new Toughpower DPS units as yet.
