Peripherals specialist Logitech has introduced a new gaming mouse aimed particularly at 'eSports athletes'. To design the Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse the firm took the best qualities of the Logitech G100s shape, and combined that with "the incredible speed, accuracy and responsiveness" of the Logitech G303.
Explaining the appeal of this heady brew of mouse parts, Ujesh Desai, VP and GM of gaming at Logitech, said that eSports players aren't afraid of providing both positive and negative feedback about the firm's previous mouse designs. "Our new Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse takes what eSports pros loved about the G100s and G303 and combines it into a mouse that we're confident will meet their standards," gushed Desai.
A key component of the new Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse is its sensor, that's a mousing equivalent of 'tyres on the tarmac'. Logitech has specified the PMW3366 sensor for the new mouse design. It works with zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration across its entire DPI range of 200-12,000 DPI. Tracking accuracy and response qualities are also said to be exceptional.
Turning to the mouse 'feel', this ambidextrous design features 'advanced button tensioning' for superior, consistent click response, so important for competitive gaming. The left and right buttons are rated for 20 million clicks, said to be equivalent to pro gamers training for 10 hours every day for two full years. The Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse is optimised to reduce weight, and tested rigorously for durability and reliability. The mouse surface has a special coating for durability and grip and its feet are rated for 250Km of smooth gliding gaming action. One final touch in the design is the customisable 16.8 million colour illumination which can be synchronised with other G products.
The Logitech G Pro Gaming Mouse offers six programmable buttons which can be set up for custom actions and saved, or simply used with various factory presets. Onboard memory is equipped so preferences travel with your mouse, allowing you to switch systems without installing software for these kinds of settings. Nevertheless, you will still need Logitech Gaming Software to create profiles to save to the mouse memory.
As for pricing and availability, Logitech says that the G Pro Gaming Mouse will be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning August 2016, for a suggested retail price of $69.99 and €69.95 respectively. It's already available for pre-order in the US, with free shipping. Buyers get a 2-year limited hardware warranty.
