Today Razer has launched a pair of new gaming mice. The Razer Lancehead (wireless) and Razer Lancehead Tournament Edition (wired) are ambidextrous mice with an identical looking design, packing true 16,000 DPI 5G optical sensors, Razer mechanical mouse switches, nine independently programmable 'Hyperesponse' buttons, Razer Chroma RGB lighting, and more.

Razer Lancehead - available May/June for US$139.99 / €149.99.

The Razer Lancehead features what is claimed to be a "revolutionary" new technology to ensure fast and stable wireless communication between mouse and computer. Razer's proprietary 'Adaptive Frequency Technology' (AFT) is said to connect to the strongest interference-free frequencies within the 2.4 GHz band, actively switching frequencies only if necessary. "The result is lag-free data transmission between the Razer Lancehead and PC that outperforms every other wireless gaming mouse," claims Razer.

Other impressive tech within the Lancehead mouse includes:

  • True 16,000 DPI 5G laser sensor
  • Up to 210 inches per second (IPS) / 50G acceleration
  • Adaptive Frequency Technology via 2.4GHz dongle
  • Razer Mechanical Mouse Switches (co-designed with Omron)
  • On-The-Fly Sensitivity Adjustment
  • Gaming-grade tactile scroll wheel
  • Ambidextrous design with enhanced rubber side grips
  • Razer Chroma lighting with true 16.8 million customizable colour options
  • Inter-device colour synchronization
  • Nine independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons
  • 1000Hz Ultrapolling
  • 24 hour battery life (lighting on)

Razer Lancehead Tournament Edition - available now for US$79.99 / €89.99 / £79.99.

This is the same mouse but reliant upon a wired connection. Due to the direct physical connection with your PC the Razer Lancehead Tournament Edition can manage an improved 450 inches per second (IPS) / 50G acceleration. All other specifications are as above, except for a slight weight difference, and its 7ft braided cable is used for data / power rather than just occasional charging duties, and of course it doesn't need batteries / charging.

Razer Synapse Pro (Beta)

The new Lancehead mice are the first to run with the soon-to-be released Razer Synapse Pro (Beta). Beyond the standard features of Synapse, Lancehead users can make use of the new unified configurator, and mouse settings can be saved directly to the mouse, as well as to the cloud, using the new hybrid on-board and cloud memory functionality.

How much for a wireless mouse, from a company that doesn't have a great reputation for quality and durability?
It's yet another mouse with not enough buttons…
Wireless and gaming… something wrong is going on here!
I'll be honest, I'm surprised at the price. Yeah £80 is disgusting and all, but I kinda expected it to be £100-120 with it being from Razer

EDIT: And damnit, it is shaped like the Imperator (my fave ever mouse), AND has the 2 extra buttons under the mouse wheel. I'm gonna end up buying one of these. I hate buying Razer gear, but because I've gotten used to the specific shape and feel, all others feel alien. Hell, when they brought out the latest Death Adder and made me own one, I found out they had changed the shape and it really bummed me out. Glad to see em go back to the old shape.

Plus, I've been wanting a wireless gaming mouse for a while now, but for some reason I can never find one with enough buttons
EDIT2: So it seems I read the price for the wired model..God damn Razer, the balls on them to charge ~£140 for a wireless mouse, never mind £80 for a wired one

Have you not seen the Logitech G700?
With 8 extra buttons (plus the 2 regular and a 5-way scroll wheel), that almost has enough to even satisfy me… almost!!
