Dell has updated its range of UltraSharp monitors with a couple of new models with improved specifications. The updated models are the Dell UltraSharp 30 Monitor with PremierColor (UP3017) which builds on the success of the U3014, and the Dell UltraSharp 34 Curved Monitor (U3417W) which improves upon the U3415W.
Dell UltraSharp 30 Monitor with PremierColor (UP3017)
The improvements to this 30-inch IPS 2560 x 1600 pixel monitor are spearheaded by its colour space calibration. The UP3017 supports 99 per cent coverage across four professional colour spaces – AdobeRGB, sRGB, REC 709 and DCI-P3. Dell says that the additional colour profile coverage will benefit the likes of animation designers and video editors to whom colour accuracy is critical. To further colour tune the UP3017, Dell provides users a Custom Colour mode and the Dell UltraSharp Colour Calibration Solution software with the optional colorimeter hardware.
Another improvement over the previous UltraSharp 30 is in the adjustability of the provided stand. New is the ability to rotate the monitor panel clockwise or counter-clockwise to view the entire screen in portrait orientation, and greater height adjustment range and wider tilt angles are available.
Dell has made it easier to connect multiple UltraSharp 30 monitors thanks to the ability to daisychain these monitors for mirrored or extended displays. Another tweak is the provision of side-by side content display from two computer sources using a single mouse/keyboard.
The list price of this monitor is $1,249.99 with shipping from today.
Dell UltraSharp 34 Curved Monitor (U3417W)
Dell has increased the screen curvature of this 34-inch UltraSharp monitor, to 1900R, to optimise the field of view "while continuing to minimize reflection and offering near-uniform visual focus". The IPS WQHD 3440 x 1440 pixel screen is flicker free and low-blue-light emitting thanks to Dell ComfortView. Meanwhile its slimmer bezels make it a better multi-monitor setup choice.
The previous specs boasted by the U3415W remain, including; dual 9W speakers and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture features. However Dell has improved the input options with a DisplayPort 1.2 and Mini-DisplayPort 1.2 connection, two HDMI 2.0 connections, and a DisplayPort 1.2 out for display daisy-chaining.
The list price of this monitor is $1,199.99 with estimated ship date from 9th Sept.
