Dell has announced the release of the Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor (P4317Q). This monitor enables users to enjoy the expanse of screen real estate offered by a UHD display across a 42.5-inch diagonal, or connect multiple inputs for an up to 4x FHD display array - without any bezels hindering the view. Designed to appeal to financial traders and software developers, the hardware on offer is improved with the Enhanced Dell Display Manager for display switching, screen arranging and zooming.
The 108cm diagonal display panel used by the P4317Q is of the IPS type and uses a white LED edgelight system. This monitor screen is protected by a 2H level hardness coating with 44 per cent haze to provide a matte finish, reducing glare and any associated eye strain. Other key screen specs include a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 60Hz (DP only), pixel pitch of 0.2451mm, brightness of 350cd/m2 (typical), contrast ratio of 1000:1, an 8ms response time (grey to grey), and support for 1.06 billion colours.
Where this monitor comes into its own, beyond its simple use as a UHD monitor, is in its flexibility of inputs and what it can do with the inputs. The Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor boasts the following connections:
- 1 x DP 1.2
- 1 x mDP 1.2
- 2 x HDMI 1.4 (MHL)
- 1 x VGA
- 1 x USB 3.0 port - Upstream
- 4 x USB 3.0 port
- 1 x Audio Input
- 1 x Headphone output
- 1 x RS232
- With 1x HDMI, mDP, DP and USB 3.0 upstream cables provided.
As mentioned above, Dell expects many buyers to use this display to replace 4x FHD monitors without bezel breaks, via four independent monitor in connections. The additional data I/O ports are also welcome, with the RS232 installed for remote management purposes. For convenience the monitor sports a pair of 8W speakers, installed in the bezel. A non-swivel stand is supplied offering only tilt adjustment but you can use the P4317Q with any VESA 100mm and 200mm standard mounting systems.
Dell details one more advantage this multi-client monitor will provide – lower power consumption. It says that by replacing four FHD monitors with this single display users will obtain a 30 per cent energy consumption saving. The Dell 43 Multi-Client Monitor can be ordered today in the US, with shipments expected to start Monday. It is priced at $1,349.99.
