Philips has announced a new 34-inch curved monitor which will be made available later in April. The Philips 349X7FJEW X Line monitor has an UltraWide QHD VA panel with 3440x1440 pixels, a 1800R screen curvature, wide colour gamut support, MultiView connectivity, and AMD FreeSync compatibility.
Artem Khomenko, Product Manager Philips monitors Europe at MMD, repeated his firm's recent initiative of promoting "the benefits of curved displays – the focus, the immersion effect – to as many users as possible". Khomenko said that the new 34-inch Philips 349X7FJEW X Line monitor also delivered enjoyable productivity, and is just the latest of a comprehensive curved monitor lineup being rolled out this year.
Multitasking is a pleasure with the 349X7FJEW, and enhanced by the wide panoramic display, says Philips. It should be of particular appeal to videographers, thinks the firm, as with this monitor they could "view the entire timeline at once, and the 117.3 per cent (CIE1931) sRGB colour gamut ensures that keen photographers and video-makers will enjoy great colour reproduction".
Philips has put special attention into the monitor design with and edge-to-edge display, subtle curves in the base/stand which is fashioned from chrome and gloss, plus height and tilt adjustments for users (or use a VESA mount). Users will also feel more comfortable thanks to the LowBlue Mode, reducing eye fatigue. Gamers can benefit from AMD FreeSync technology, helping to ensure that moving imagery is super-smooth, with no stuttering, tearing or motion blur.
Multitasking on the 349X7FJEW X Line monitor is particularly flexible. Beyond the obvious UltraWide screen being great for multiple windows and control panels, Philips MultiView allows dual inputs to share the screen real estate. MultiView can be used in either PIP/PBP modes.
Features and convenience aren't skimped upon here. There's an integrated USB 3.0 hub with fast charging capability - offering four ports in total. A pair of built-in 5W speakers will likely suffice for everyday computing audio.
The Philips 349X7FJEW X Line 21:9 monitor will be available later this month in the UK, at £759. Full tech specs are below.
