Lenovo is at IFA 2016 and is another company to have a showcase featuring a multitude of computing and smart devices. The company unveiled several Yoga computing products plus a new Miix 2-in-1 and a new tablet. It also showcased various Moto smartphones and accessories.
Lenovo Yoga Book
Probably the most interesting new device from Lenovo is the Yoga Book, available in both Windows 10 and Android versions. Lenovo claims it is the "world’s thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 tablet". It introduces a couple of bold innovations; the Halo Keyboard, and the Real Pen input device. In fact these innovations share the same fold-out device area, where you might find the keyboard in a clamshell-style laptop. On this input 'blank canvas' you can use your fingers to type on an illuminated touchboard, or you can use a pen to take notes, draw and so on. In this note-taking mode you can rest things on the fold out area such as a ruled notebook or sketch.
The Intel Atom x5-Z8550 powered Yoga Book offers up to 15 hours of battery life and weighs just 690g. This system has 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage (plus microSD), a 10.1" FHD IPS screen, various sensors, Dolby Audio Premium, cameras front and back, Wi-Fi, and optional 4G. The Windows 10 version costs £509.99, and the Android one is £429.99 – the LTE versions cost about £80 more. Lenovo is selling covers, pen, ink, and paper accessories.
Other Lenovo devices
The Yoga 910 is an all-metal sleek, powerful laptop with 4K IPS display. It can be configured with various latest generation Intel Core processors, up to 16Gb of RAM, and up to a 1TB PCIe SSD. Standard features include; a 720p webcam, JBL stereo speakers, the flexible Yoga watchband hinge, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, and up to 9 hour of local video playback.
Ports fitted to the Yoga 910 are a USB 3.0 Type-C with video-out, USB 2.0 Type-C with charging, USB 3.0 with always-on charging, and an audio combo jack. This slim portable laptop is just 14.3mm thick and weighs in at 1.4Kg. Pricing is €1499 including VAT / £1099.
Lenovo also updated its Miix range with the Miix 510. This is a 12.2-inch (1920x1200) Windows 10 2-in-1 with 'all day battery life' (8 hours) and optional LTE connectivity. It's based around up to an 6th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, with up to 8GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD. This device weighs 900g, or 1.25Kg with attached keyboard. A modern USB 3.0 Type-C is accompanied by a standard USB 3.0 port, and an audio combo jack. Pricing is from €699 including VAT (including keyboard and pen) / £699.99.
The last of Lenovo's computing devices is the Yoga Tab 3 Plus tablet. Featuring the now familiar rounded battery packed grip/stand, this is a 10.1-inch QHD (2560 x 1600) IPS screened Android tablet. Lenovo has built this device into a metal chassis with a textured, leather-like finished back. Inside beats a Snapdragon 625 Octa-core 1.4 GHz processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage (+ microSD), and a large 9,300mAh battery offering up to 18 hours of life.
Other specs of this tablet include an 13MP/5MP camera pair, and a quad-speaker JBL soundbar. For connectivity there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a Giga-LAN port, plus 2 x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0 (and power in), a micro HDMI out, an audio combo jack, and a 4-in-1 card reader. The Tab 3 Plus measures 247 x 179 x 4.68mm and weighs 638g. According to Lenovo this tablet is 'coming soon' and will be priced at €299 including VAT / £279.99.
