HP has launched a new Elitebook laptop. As you might guess from the name, the Elitebook range is traditionally HP's leading premium laptop series, sporting a winning combination of state of the art hardware, construction and design – but at a price. The new HP EliteBook 1030 is no exception to that rule.
The HP Elitebook 1030 is designed around a 13.3-inch edge-to-edge display which is said to be fitted into a 12.2-inch chassis. The 13.3-inch screen is an increasingly popular display size balancing screen real estate and portability. Still on the topic of the screen, HP protects the display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and offers the buyers a choice between a FHD (non-touch) or QHD+ (touch) display.
Quality of construction is another highlight of this Elitebook. HP says that the chassis is an all-metal diamond-cut design. Overall this laptop weighs 1.16Kg and measures just 15.7mm thick. Being thin and slight doesn't mean it lacks toughness, as it has passed various MIL-STD tests for shock, vibrations and extreme temperatures. The equipped HP 'Premium keyboard' is back-lit and spill-resistant and accompanied by an integrated click pad which is said to feel natural and intuitive.
Processing power comes from a user choice of 6th Generation Intel Core M series, including Intel Core m7 processor. This processor does a great job of conserving battery power and means that the 1030 can be a fanless laptop. A further knock-on effect is that your HP Elitebook 1030 boasts a battery life of 13 hours for the FHD version (9 hours for the QHD+ touch screen version).
Further key component specifications are storage choices up to 512GB SSDs (or 256GB PCIe SSD), up to to 16GB of RAM, WiDi, Miracast, and WLAN 802.11ac/Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, ports such as 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB Type-C and an HDMI video out. There is on-board HP noise reduction, said to be useful in conference calls and so on, and as usual now for HP, B&O powered audio and tuned speakers.
To appeal to businesses and professionals there are a selection of security measures specified including the HP Sure Start self healing BIOS, a fingerprint reader, plus optional Intel vPro and LANDesk management. This new Elitebook is compatible with HP's UltraSlim Docking Station.
