The ASUS U1F is, quite possibly, a hack's wet dream. Sporting a 11.1in WXGA screen that's the beneficiary of LED backlighting, the 1kg model (including 3-cell battery) packs in an Intel Core 2 Duo ultra-low voltage U2400 processor, 80GB hard drive, webcam, and Vista Premium as standard. The underlying Napa platform adds 945GM-based integrated graphics and 3945ABG WiFi.
The ultra-slim model has a few neat signature touches, including a leather around the palmrest area, a high-quality, high-gloss piano finish on the lid, and fingerprint recognition. We also like the fact that ASUS hasn't missed out on an ExpressCard slot, which, when hooked up to the company's XG GameStation, will allow you to link up an external PCIe-based graphics card and run the resulting video via an external screen.
U.K. pricing is slated as Ā£1399, and the U1F is firmly on this hack's wish list.
