Toshiba's been tinkering with tablet PC design for a while now. The latest experiment has Tosh's engineers totally removing the screen from the base unit. The screen has an in-built battery that provides the LCD's power, and both parts of the tablet PC communicate with one another via 802.11g WiFi.
Toshiba's PR department reckons that base and touchscreen can be up to 100m apart, although most users will probably just reposition the screen for a more comfortable viewing.
The radical design is simply a showcase of technology, rather than a product that's coming to market anytime soon. What would you use it for? Have your say in our forums.
