Today, Sony released a new portable DVD player, the DVP-FX720 that ships with a 7in widescreen LCD and is reckoned to be good for five hours of continuous playback on a single battery charge.

What we think:
Priced at £129, and available now, the DVP-FX720 is considerably more expensive than generic players that boast similar specifications. It would be a better bet if it shipped with multi-codec support for the playback of user-compressed movies.
