ASUS has announced the 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti graphics card. This is "the fastest GTX 980 Ti on the planet - even without liquid cooling," claims ASUS. Headline specs show that the card offers base/boost GPU clocks of 1266MHz/1367MHz. This translates to 22.1 per cent more performance in Grand Theft Auto V, and 20.8 per cent more frames per second in The Witcher 3 when compared to reference cards in ASUS's own tests.

The 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti was built to celebrate ASUS's 20 years of producing graphics cards. ASUS says it has meticulously crafted this fast graphics card, it looks splendid in its metallic gold livery, it even goes so far as describing it as a 'collectable'.

The ASUS S3 Virge 375 from 1996.

ASUS has kitted out the 20th Anniversary Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti with its full portfolio of modern performance and reliability enhancing technology. The card comes equipped with DirectCU II with patented wing-blade 0dB fans, 10mm direct-GPU-contact heat pipe and a 325 per cent-larger heat dissipation area. The board is equipped with Digi+ voltage-regulation modules (VRMs) with 14-phase Super Alloy Power II components - long-life capacitors, concrete-core chokes, and hardened MOSFETs for reliability. It is built on ASUS's 'Auto-Extreme' production line.

If you buy this card for extreme overclocking features ASUS has you covered as it features an LN2 BIOS setting with "even more overvolting options," and a 'safe mode' push button if your BIOS tweaking oversteps the laws of physics.

Again for those operating at extremes, 'Memory Defroster' is a built-in function that defrosts the graphics card’s memory during below-zero overclocking to ensure sustained stability. Last but not least colour changing LEDs are present behind the card's 20th Anniversary panel to show a real-time guide as to how far you are pushing this Gold Edition GTX 980 Ti.

As you might expect, ASUS has thrown in its recently remodelled GPU Tweak II with XSplit Gamecaster for easy tweaking and streaming. You get one year of game casting in the bundle plus a free mouse pad. Availability is imminent and pricing TBA.

TBA as in “Totally Bloomin' Apple” (take reasonable price and add 30%)?

Darn, it looks good, but I'm guessing £600+, probably closer to £700.
I had that S3 verge!, I remember buying the ram upgrade kit for it, installing it myself and marvelling at the higher resolutions / colour depths I had unlocked :D
Amazing…a Memory Defroster on card
Who needs a card with a defroster other than the 10 guys that compete at the world overclock thingy.

It is for extreme OC'ers.
