Intel has updated its graphics driver for users of its integrated graphics chipsets built-into 3rd and 4th generation Core processors. The combined drivers, for Windows 7 and 8, are said to bring a whole host of fixes in applications and games.

The new Intel graphics driver is flagged as version 15.31.17.3257 (for 32-bit Windows) and version 15.31.17.64.3257 (64-bit). These updates to Intel’s graphics driver quash 26 bugs in applications and games. Ivy Bridge system owners have three issues fixed, the rest of the bugs and glitches fixed are specific to Haswell systems.

You can see a full list of the fixes within Intel’s associated release notes for the new driver (PDF). Some of the fixes are for pretty serious glitches such as system crash issues as well as many cases of graphic display corruption. If you played games such as Resident Evil 5, Metro 2033, Battlefield 3 and BioShock these new drivers will sooth away a lot of problems.

In addition to these fixes Intel has detailed a list of new releases that “are known to run well on 4th Generation Intel Core Processors”. This list includes Dota 2, Grid 2, Lost Planet 3, Metro: Last Light, NASCAR: The Game 2013 and Total War: Rome II. This list is only of “notable games” and is not exhaustive, says Chipzilla.

With the new driver release Intel advises customers to upgrade the following applications “to avoid unexpected issues”: 3DMark11, Unigine Heaven, Batman Arkham City, Mafia 2, Homefront, Battlefield 3 and Company of Heroes.

Finally, Intel doesn’t claim to have fixed all its driver problems and informs us that there is still a considerable list of known issues including crashes in ‘Sandra 2012’ and ‘Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed’, Minor artifacts in Street Fighter IV, 3D Studio Max 2013 and other situations. Also a media playback problem, where “corruption on some DVDs after about 6 minutes” is exhibited, hasn’t been fixed.

If you have a system with Intel’s Iris or HD graphics as the sole or switchable graphics subsystem you can download the new 32-bit driver and the new 64 bit driver today.

Yeah, that's just what you want - Intel for your graphics processing.
Everywhere I look it's Intel Graphics this and that. You'd think that Intel was paying the sites to just run stories about it, as if they were any good for anything beyond casual gaming.

Which means they are just fine for the vast majority of PCs and laptops then (and big updates a valid piece of news), I'm pretty sure it's still frowned upon to play Skyrim at work and my Dad still shows no inclination to play…
Updates are always welcome but i'd rather they put more effort into there wireless drivers.
The bug in the 6250 with win 8.1 where you have no wireless after hibernation is quite annoying.
Don't install these drivers with windows 8.1, even though they say it's supported it's nothing but missery, program crashes, page freezes and non functional graphics control panel
