AMD's hard-hitting Radeon HD 7970 graphics card is edging closer to retail availability, and if you're planning on adopting the world's fastest GPU on day one, you might be able to bag a liquid-cooled water block to go with it.
First out of the gate with a compatible solution is German manufacturer Aqua Computer, whose aquagratix 7900 is now available for pre-order at a cost of €89.90.
The water block, pictured above, is designed for use with a reference Radeon HD 7970 - or indeed the upcoming Radeon HD 7950 - and features a thick copper base and a stainless steel cover.
That's option A, but if you've been holding out for an EK solution, here's option B:
Dubbed the EK-FC7970 and pictured on an old 7970 engineering sample (hence the unusual power connectors), the block features standard G 1/4 threads and is designed to encompass many of the card's heat-generating areas - including the GPU, the memory and the voltage regulators.
Nice to have options, but neither of the two aforementioned solutions are readily available, and are unlikely to appear in time for the Radeon HD 7970's January 9 launch. Aqua Computer has attached a lead time of 21 days to the aquagratix 7900, and EK has yet to mention availability or pricing for the EK-FC7970.
