Low-level Software, Hardware, and Semiconductor Engineering leaks specialist WikiChip claims to have spilled the full details of an unannounced range of AMD Ryzen HEDT CPUs. The so-called AMD Ryzen 9 'Threadripper' processor lineup consists of nine SKUs, boasting configurations from 10C/20T up to 16C/32T and clock speeds as high as 4.1GHz.

Above is a comparison table put together by WikiChip comparing the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper lineup with the Intel Core i9 Skylake-X processors and Kaby Lake-X processors we discussed yesterday. It isn't unreasonable to expect AMD to continue its great value thrust from consumer CPUs into the HDT processor arena, with higher core/thread counts as shown above

We have previously reported on rumours of AMD working on a 16C/32T quad channel Ryzen CPU for X399 platform motherboards. The top Ryzen 9 1998X and 1998 in the table above offer these same specs, with a TDP of 155W and base/ boost clock speeds ranging from 3.2 to 3.8GHz, according to the new leak. Another particularly interesting assertion from the WikiChip leak is that all the Ryzen 9 series support 44 PCIe lanes.

Hopefully official news and details concerning both AMD's and Intel's upcoming HEDT CPU ranges will be revealed at Computex, or sooner.

AMD Vega announcement today?

This is more of a reminder than an extra piece of news. Back on the 8th May we reported on WCCFTech's news of "sources close to AMD" flagging up some kind of Vega, Navi, and Zen+ event today. WCCFTech has run the news again today, but noted some teasing Tweets from AMD's top graphics guy Raja Koduri and an exchange with AMD's Senior Marketing Director, Chris Hook.

I've embedded the little Twitter exchange above. You can see that today AMD / RTG might reveal new frontier, and we could look back and remember today as #sweet16.

Grins with glee at Intel being 1 upped :D
Wow,if these rumours are true,it looks like a monster CPU for productivity purposes.
Threadripper sounds like something you do after a night on the town and a good curry. ;)

Seriously, what are 32 threads gonna do for you on a desktop PC?
Intel's line up as it is, looks kind of pathetic…
