Nanoxia has written to HEXUS to inform us that its Nanoxia Project S silver chassis is now available in Germany, and will shortly roll out Europe-wide. This chassis is based upon the 'NanoXia Project', first shown off at Computex 2015, and more recently a popular attraction at Gamescom 2016.

The Nanoxia Project S chassis is described as a high-end HTPC case capable of fitting full sized ATX motherboards and standard ATX PSUs. However, the standout feature of the Project S is probably its design, built upon the 'drawer-principle'. The whole PC system insides can slide out of the chassis for easy access, and this includes motherboard, power supply, hard disks and fans/radiators. Pull out the drawer, reconfigure, slide back in and power on – it "makes the installation of the hardware a breeze," says Nanoxia.

Inside there are fully modular HDD/SSD mounting cages which provide mounting space for up to 2x 3.5-inch drives and 5x 2.5-inch drives. For other technical data such as cooling options and maximum compatibility please check out the bullet point below.

  • Form Factor: ATX, Micro-ATX, Mini-ITX
  • 3.5-inch drive bay internal: 2, 2.5-inch drive bay internal: max. 5
  • Case Fan (Front): opt. 2 x 120/140 mm, Case Fan (Rear): 1 x 120 mm, Case Fan (Left side): 2 x 120 mm, Case Fan (Right side): opt. 3 x 120 mm
  • Maximum installation height of CPU coolers: 170 mm
  • Maximum VGA Card Length: 400 mm
  • Case Height (Approx.): 250 mm, Width (Approx.): 490 mm, Depth (Approx.): 460 mm
  • Material: Steel, aluminium, tempered glass
  • Weight (Approx.): 11.68 kg

Not mentioned in the spec above are the chassis' magnetic dust filters, that the top is made of scratch-resistant tempered glass, or the opportunity to install several water cooling radiators. As you can tally up from the above, a total of eight cooling fans can be fitted in Project S but only one 120mm CoolForce fan is pre-installed, at the back, as part of the package.

A useful I/O panel to the right side of the front panel (horizontal desktop case orientation) includes 2 x USB 3.0 and 1 x Type-C USB 3.1, as well as audio jacks. Above these ports are the power, reset and LED on/off switches. Along the front of the chassis you can see an RGB LED lighting strip which can be colour configured or simply switched off, as you wish.

Nanoxia told HEXUS that it will follow up on the silver model with a black edition in November. The MSRP of the Project S is €249.99 including tax.

Make it half height (2U) and it's an interesting concept for a HTPC. But then I also want access to an optical drive and concealed card reader etc
Standard Hi-Fi components are around 430mm wide which would be preferable for a HTPC case.
It is a bit pricey and surely a HTPC case should still have an optical drive bay.
That's a really beautiful case - difficult to judge the size though. Mini-ITX version would be nice!
Looks very nice, but seems to be very niche too - how many people change the innards of their HTPC frequently enough to make the accessibility anything other than a marginal benefit?
