PRESS RELEASE

United Kingdon, 21 May 2012:    MMD, the leading technology company and brand license partner for Philips Monitors, today unveiled a new 24-inch monitor with a webcam for business users. Enriching and complementing the Philips P (Professional) monitor range, the latest Philips AMVA LCD monitor with W-LED backlighting features a webcam to connect remote teams, brilliant image quality to bring on-screen faces to life, and 24 inches of widescreen space for easy viewing.

Modern office landscapes are no place for loners. 21st century productivity is all about connecting with others, pulling together ad-hoc groups and teams - in the same office or anywhere in the world - to collaborate on documents and other content.

Enriching and complementing the Philips P (Professional) range of displays, the latest Philips AMVA LCD comes with a built-in webcam to help busy professionals connect and collaborate with their partners and colleagues across the globe. And there's no chance whatsoever of the fuzzy, blurry imaging that all too often stands in the way of effective remote collaboration. Working with AMVA technology (Advanced Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment), the display offers super-high static contrast ratios for extra vivid and bright images. The optimized pixel management technology provides a 178/178 degree extra-wide viewing angle, resulting in a superb viewing experience with sharp, clear images even in 90 degree pivot mode - perfect for group collaboration, since everyone can see what's happening on the screen from whatever their viewing angle. The sound experience is also excellent, thanks to the built-in microphone and stereo speakers, which ensure optimal-quality voice reproduction in audio and video conferencing.

The display features the DisplayPort, a digital PC-to-monitor link. More powerful than the DVI standard, it supports cable lengths of up to 15m, delivering data transfer rates of 10.8 Gbps/sec and zero image latency. That's fast enough not just for general office use, but particularly also for demanding video links. From a more local perspective, the new display features a three-port USB 2.0 hub, enabling users to connect USB memory devices, cameras, portable HDDs, PDAs, printers and other plug-and-play devices of their choice.

The latest member of the P-line family is designed to ease the strain of long working days. Not just for the sake of productivity - but for the sake of people's health. The screen itself works with LED backlighting to combat eye fatigue, and the SmartErgoBase enables the display to be lowered down almost to desk level for a comfortable viewing angle. Low bezel-to-table height is the perfect solution for people who use bifocals, trifocals or progressive lens glasses for computing. And it also allows people to adjust the angle to their own height. In addition, the base provides cable management, which reduces cable clutter and keeps the workspace neat and professional.

The health of the planet is no less important. Which is why the new 24-inch LCD monitor works with eco-friendly technology that minimises environmental impact by ensuring that as little energy as possible is consumed. One of these eco-technologies is the Philips PowerSensor. The principle is simple: in modern collaborative environments, people rarely spend eight hours non-stop in front of their screens. Thanks to PowerSensor technology, the display automatically dims whenever the user moves away, cutting energy consumption by up to 80%. To save even more power - down to zero if need be - users can simply flick the 0 watt switch conveniently located at the back of the display to cut off AC power altogether and reduce the carbon footprint even further.

The Philips AMVA LCD monitor with webcam will be available through reseller and distributor partners from mid-May at the recommended retail price of £192.00 (ex VAT).  For more information about the new display, please visit: www.lcdmonitors.philips.com.
