This innovative display with 10-point capacitive touch provides a natural fluid response to gestures, and also features a webcam and microphone to keep users connected with the people that matter in their lives. The wide viewing angle of IPS LED delivers vivid display clarity from any perspective, a flexibility complemented by the adjustable SmartStand for placing the screen at a convenient angle.

Tap, grab, pinch, rotate, zoom and swipe: users who appreciate smartphone and tablet touch features no longer have to sacrifice these abilities on a desktop-sized screen. In line with the Philips brand promise of delivering innovation that matters to you, the brand-new Philips SmoothTouch display revolutionises how people live and work by bringing intuitive touch gestures to a full-fledged desktop. With the natural, fluid response of the 23-inch screen, users can look forward to a whole new way of engaging with their computer. The display features 10 point capacitive touch - for 10-finger control - and edge-to-edge glass for a brilliant interactive display experience. And because users are likely to interact from any angle, the SmoothTouch display uses advanced IPS technology for a 178° viewing angle. Essentially, users can work - and play - when viewing the screen from almost side on. IPS delivers vivid, accurate colours, and dazzling image clarity to enhance the viewing experience in both professional applications and fun apps.

With an embedded webcam that transfers bright crisp images, a sensitive microphone to ensure voices carry through clearly, and a rich, powerful sound output through stereo speakers, the new Philips 231C5 display is ready to connect with the world right out of the box. The display can even play back audio and video in HD quality directly from an MHL-compatible mobile phone.

Easy to experience

By freeing people from mouse and trackpad, the SmoothTouch display delivers a more ergonomic user experience. It also gives users more choice in terms of posture - better for health and wellbeing. The Philips display includes "SmartStand": an adjustable stand that can be reclined to almost 60 degrees on the desktop, placing it at the right angle for tap and swipe gestures. For conventional keyboard interaction, it can easily be moved upright. The display is equally flexible in terms of connectivity: with SmartConnect, it includes HDMI and VGA connections, Display Port, plus USB 3.0 for ultra-fast data streaming and simultaneous charging of a smartphone.
