Building your own PC is a whole lot of fun, but unless your wallet knows no bounds, it does take a certain amount of discipline. With so many attractive components on the market, it's oh-so-easy to overstep and reach-out for one awesome piece of kit that blows the entire budget.

It's a balancing act, more often than not, but which single component typically does the most damage to the overall price? Most gamers would point to the graphics card, we feel, but then again, certain CPUs don't come cheap and who can resist splashing out on a capacious, high-speed SSD?

So, dear readers, we're putting the question to you: what's the most expensive component in your current PC? And, in hindsight, was it worth it? As always, let us know using the comments below.

Must be the SSD at present. Been building my rigs on the cheap lately until I have funds to build my next dream rig.

Was it worth it? Very much so. Going back to HDD based systems feels like an absolute dog.

Shall be phasing out all my HDD boot drives in favour of SSD when I can.
3570k and Corsair HX 1000w psu, both were def worth it as i only paid $160 out of pocket for the 3570K (birthdays FTW) and paid $230 for the PSU; which is solid after 5 years :D
My 3770K CPU if you count each graphics card singly, but I have spent about $600 on two GTX580s SLI'd and under water. I keep upgrading incrementally month to month.
