Shuttle AS45GTR SiS648 Motherboard Review
I reviewed the SiS648/963 chipset combination here and found it to be an excellent base for motherboard manufacturers to design a motherboard upon, mainly due to the wealth of integrated features on offer from the 2 respective bridges. The question remained whether a manufacturer could integrate all these features without compromising stability and overall performance. On paper, at least, it appears to be the most feature-rich Pentium 4 chipset currently on offer.
So it was with some real anticipation that I awaited for a retail, feature-rich motherboard for review. I had expected it to come from one of the first tier manufacturers, instead it came from a different quarter. Shuttle, perhaps more famous for their feature-packed barebones systems, duly announced their AS45GTR motherboard based on the SiS648 chipset.
You should now know what the SiS648 chipset has to offer, let's see how successful Shuttle's interpretation has been as we delve in the detailed specifications.
