Microsoft has written to HEXUS to let us know that the Surface Pro 4 and new Surface accessories have become available in the UK, starting today. UK pricing for Microsoft's new Pro tablet starts at £749 (including the Surface Pen) or £859 (including the Surface Pen and Type Cover). Stores with stock available are said to include; the Microsoft Store UK, Amazon, Argos, Dixons Travel, John Lewis, Harrods, PC World / Currys, Selfridges, Staples and Very.co.uk.
The Surface Pro 4 was unveiled by Microsoft just over a month ago. The tablet convertible is heralded as a "thinner, lighter and faster," successor to the popular Microsoft Surface Pro 3. A lot of the improvements stem from the use of the latest Intel Skylake family of processors, including Core i5, i7 chips, with up to Iris quality graphics.
As well as the new processor, Microsoft has enhanced the surface Pen, with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity, redesigned the Surface Pro 4 Type Cover to incorporate a "mechanical keyboard" and an enlarged glass trackpad and brought out a new Surface Dock to adapt your Surface into a desktop PC in an instant. The Surface Dock provides tablet charging plus quick access to external monitors, a keyboard, mouse and more.
London launch event
Celebrating the Surface Pro 4 arrival in the UK, Microsoft held a musical event last night at KOKO, London. The music was provided by bringing together award-winning group Rudimental and acclaimed British composer David William Hearn. "The collaboration is the first time that a full concert has been created entirely on a tablet," boasts Microsoft. The musical feat was facilitated by the use of composition app StaffPad, on the Surface. Artist Will Barras created a dynamic mural as a backdrop for the performance using Microsoft's Fresh Paint app and the Surface Pen.
What about the Surface Book?
UK folk will have to wait several months more for the Microsoft Surface Book to arrive on these shores. According to a recent report on Neowin, quoting attendees of the Microsoft's Future Decoded event, it will be March/April 2016 before we get our hands on Microsoft's handsome looking Surface Book 2-in-1.
