Samsung has announced the fourth generation of its Tab range of tablets today. As previously, the new range encompasses 10.1, 8 and 7-inch tablets, available in black or white livery. Samsung is headlining this announcement with the following description; "Next-generation Galaxy tablet series delivers exceptional multimedia experience for the whole family in a sleek, lightweight design". All the new tablets offer users a WXGA 16:10 display, said to be great for media consumption and gaming. Also the new Tab4 range makes use of Samsung's Multi Window Android extension.
In an email to HEXUS Samsung focussed upon "fun and shareable services," which allow users to stay connected with friends and family and enjoy the following:
- Group Play: Share and play music, documents and games with friends in real time
- Samsung Link: Share and play content across smart devices anytime, anywhere
- WatchON: Watch TV shows and movies on any device, anywhere in your home or on the go
The new Tab4 range members have a lot in common with each other. They all feature a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, a WXGA screen (1280x800 pixels), a 3MP FF + 1.3 MP camera combination and Android 4.4 (KitKat). The Tab 4 range also offers Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE connectivity options. All are available with 16GB built-in storage and a microSD card slot – the 7-inch Tab4 also is available in a budget 8GB configuration.
The changes from the previous Tab range are mainly the move from dual-core 1.6GHz processors to 1.2GHz quad-core processors, the RAM increase throughout the range from 1GB to 1.5GB, the pre-installation of Android 4.4 and the slimming down of these tabs in both weight and bezel size.

Samsung informs us that the Galaxy Tab4 line will be offered in a choice of Black or White globally beginning in April, 2014. UK availability and pricing is yet to be determined.
