American telecommunications company Motorola must be cursing Carphone Warehouse this morning after a leaked flyer from the retailer revealed the launch window and pricing for the new Motorola Xoom tablet.

Handed to Engadget, the flyer for the Motorola Xoom 2 sports the words “Give Something Special This Christmas” revealing that an 8.2in model with an in-built infrared TV and stereo controller will be released in time for the festive season. Furthermore, the flyer - said to be from a Carphone Warehouse store in Ireland - reveals that it will come with 16GB of inbuilt storage and cost €399.90 for the Wi-Fi only edition.

The biggest surprise is that it looks like it will launch with Android Honeycomb 3.2 rather than the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It’s very likely that Motorola will also launch a 3G model of Xoom 2, as well as offering other devices with increased storage capacity.

Ah, the light dawns! I was wondering why I was getting a load of “special offers” on the current Xoom - one place was offering a limited number for £210.

400 euro for the base unit sounds pretty reasonable to me. And I'm assuming that it'll get ICS'd pretty darn quick given that Google owns them, plus Asus etc have already said that their tablets will be getting the ICS treatment “as soon as possible”.
