Over 20% of iPhone owners regret purchase, reveals survey

According to a survey released by GoodMobilePhones, one in five owners of the iPhone regret purchasing it and 43 per cent of those people admit they are jealous of rival smartphones.

Out of the 1,694 iPhone owners in Britain quizzed about their smartphone, 22 per cent cited poor battery life, difficulty using emails and poor functionality as a few of the reasons they’re unhappy with their device.

By far the biggest reason that iPhone users weren’t happy, however, was that they were jealous of rival Android-enabled smartphones.

The top five reasons were listed as follows:
- Jealous of rival smartphones (43%)
- Battery life (25%)
- Lack of 'buttons' (13%)
- Difficulty using emails (8%)
- Unhappy with functionality (5%)

Not all customers pleased about their iPhone purchase


"Smartphone envy is something that many phone owners experience, but few will admit to, because everybody wants to believe that they own the 'best' phone on the market" said Mark Owen, owner of GoodMobilePhones.co.uk.

"I was really surprised that so many people admitted to regretting their iPhone purchase, because they are regarded by many as the best phones available.

"Mobile phones are becoming more and more expensive as technology advances, and the majority of newer smartphones are only available on lengthy contracts, which can last for as long as two years. My advice would be to research the latest phones, or try and find a way to test out the handset to see if it is the 'right' device for your needs, before committing to buying."


The launch of the iPhone 4S went extremely well for Apple last month, with reports of opening weekend sales in excess of 4 million in the US alone. However, support forums were soon flooded with complaints about poor battery life and overheating handsets. Apple responded quickly to resolve the issue by releasing an update, iOS 5.0.1, to fix the issue.

My guess…..90%+ of those polled didn't have a requirement for a smartphone.

As much as I love to bash Apple (and in particular, the iPhone) - I think this is a clear case of user stupidity and/or “keeping up with the jones”
so basically the vast majority of iphone buyers were happy?

i saw another poll today that said nearly 40% of people were unhappy with something, and went on about what it was, oblivious to the fact that meant that most people were happy with it

Or 20% bought into the hype, applied experience-based critical thinking post purchase, and realised it wasn't that great after all.
