Apple has responded to reports of battery drain on the recently-launched iPhone 4S by admitting that a software fix is in the works.
In a statement, the company suggests that only "a small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices," but adds that it has "found a few bugs that are affecting battery life".
Although Apple doesn't appear to be willing to go into specifics - or indeed offer a temporary solution to consumers faced with the problem - the company has confirmed that it will "release a software update to address those [bugs] in a few weeks."
In addition improving battery life, the upcoming software - iOS version 5.0.1 - will restore multitasking gestures for owners of the original iPad, fix bugs relating to iCloud, improve voice recognition for Australians, and contain other unspecified security improvements.
Reports of iOS 5 bugs have been widespread in recent weeks, but the early woes have done little to dampen the ongoing enthusiasm surrounding Apple devices. Despite a lukewarm reception to a high-profile unveiling, Apple received more than a million pre-orders for its latest iPhone in the first 24 hours of it being made available - a record for any iOS device.
