Thanks for the memory
Apple has updated the UK Apple store to reveal what the entry-level - 16GB - iPhone 4S will cost you SIM-free. The price is set at £499, which is the same as the equivalently specced iPad.
Apple doesn't seem to have made the prices for the 32GB and 64GB models available, but we've seen it widely reported that you can add £100 onto the price for each increment. Considering 16GB of Flash probably costs around $20, that a pretty meaty mark up for storage.
It's hard to compare these prices to the US because Apple isn't making the phone available SIM-free over there. With a two year contract, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB phones cost $199, $299, and $399 respectively. UK operators haven't gone live with their pricing yet.
And we've also got SIM-free prices for the cheapened iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS - you can now get them for £429 and £319, respectively. We've seen a fair bit of commentary on how Apple now has products at all price points, but you're still looking at over £300 for a two-year-old phone. Also, why buy an iPhone 4 now when £70 more gets you the new spec and double the storage?
