The Galaxy Note 3 Neo has been officially announced by Samsung Poland. This is the first time we've seen Samsung's Galaxy Note smartphone range screen actually get smaller. The Note 3 Neo is set to hit shelves globally in February but no pricing details have been revealed at this point. That's a shame because the main point about this cut-down Note 3 is probably to fit into a lower price range that Samsung has targeted.

The Note 3 Neo handset features a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, 8MP rear-camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB by MicroSD card. It also comes in three colour variants; Black, White and Green. Importantly, just like the other devices in the Note series, it comes with the S Pen and associated software.

The standard 3G model and the LTE+ offer nearly identical innards besides the fact that the 3G variant Is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core whilst the LTE+ features a speedier hexa-core processor packing a 1.7GHz dual-core chip entwined with a 1.3GHz quad-core chip.

Here is a specs comparison table so you can easily compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Note 3 Neo:

When compared to Samsung's flagship Note smartphone, the specifications of the Note 3 Neo are definitely cut down, most notably the screen and main camera. This means that we can safely assume, even without prices, that it will be a cheaper version of the Galaxy Note 3 aimed at those who are more interested in Note functionality than having the highest specs.

Unfortunately, the 'global rollout' excludes the US and the UK for now; "Samsung UK can confirm that the Note 3 Neo will not be coming to the UK market," (nor the US) reported Pocket-lint last week.

Note 2 with a note 3 jacket.
If it really is a Note 2 updated in style and at Note 2 prices (and rom support). Colour me interested. I am a sim free kind of a guy. However even the Note 2 is a powerful device, I just hate the metalic soap bar look. Having seen a Note 3 in the flesh its the nicest Samsung since the S2 IMHO. Especially with those Zenus cases.
Specs are good enough, I think.

+1 - Samsung are starting to flood the market with too many variations. Software updates will not happen for these lesser models. S3 mini taught people that.
