Last week, Motorola sent out invitations to a launch event held in London tomorrow, reading: "Following the global launch of the Moto G, we would like to invite you to join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey, as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products." The invite says that the event will take place between 8.30am and 6pm and be split into three briefings.

The impending Motorola event is raising lots of speculation that the company may finally launch its Moto X flagship in Europe, a model which has been a North America only release. One indication could be the featured shot of a Moto X being held up in the background of the invite. But really what else could it be folks?

The Motorola flagship device was first launched in the US back in August 2013. Although the globally available Moto G is a newer model, Moto X is undoubtedly a higher spec phone and the first device to launch after Google's acquisition of Motorola. The Moto X runs on a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU (as part of the interesting X8 Mobile Computing system), has a 10MP rear camera, 2MP front snapper, supports Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and comes with a 4.7 inch 720p AMOLED display.

The Moto X is currently priced at $399 (£240) before sales tax in the US, contract-free. We are however, still unsure whether Motorola will decide to offer the same customisation options through the Moto Maker in other territories. However we are confident that a lot of people are on the edge of their seats to see what’s being announced tomorrow. Whatever it is, with raving reviews of both Moto X in the US and Moto G in Europe it will surely be interesting to see what the firm has to offer tomorrow.

Moto G gets KitKat

Recent reports indicate that Motorola’s Moto G is set to be the first non-Nexus Android device to be offered the latest Google smartphone OS with Android 4.4.2 KitKat available to owners in the UK.

The timely update makes rivals HTC and Samsung look tardy, and is now available to a third of Motorola’s product line. The Moto G smartphone is currently available in the UK from as little as £99 for the 8GB version.

At last!
If Sony hadn't just announced the Z1 Compact i would be throwing my wallet at them… took them too long unfortunately.
KitKat for the Moto G is available, I got the OTA update over the weekend.
I'm now out of contract and on the months notice period. The Moto G looked damned good for the price but there is no SD slot which given a 2 year contract period I would want.

Think I'll pop off and have a nose at the specs for this one.

Z1 compact looks nice, but kind of a different market category I thought - more competing with premium iPhones and the likes, not the bang for buck phones like MotoX?
