Samsung's Unpacked press event will be held in Berlin on 4th September, less than a month away. The South Korean electronics giant used the IFA show in Germany to unveil the original Galaxy Note smartphone in 2011 and last year started the Unpacked event to show off the Galaxy Note 2 a day ahead of IFA. If it wasn't predictable enough, that a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is going to feature big at the Unpacked event and IFA, Samsung's invite helps the penny drop. The Samsung Unpacked 2013 invite states that attendees should "note the date"... This time it's two days ahead of IFA.

"Note the date"

While we don't have any official specs for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 there has been quite a bit of speculation, leaks and so on. A recent article on BoyGeniusReport claims to have benchmark results from the new Samsung phablet, which reveal that the 'SM-N9005' is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. A lot of conflicting reports have come out for the Note 3's screen size which is probably going to be bigger than its predecessors but could be anything between 5.7-inches and 6.3-inches. Some reports actually say there will be a variety of Galaxy Note 3 models with different screen sizes. Certainly Samsung isn't scared of proliferating models but that's could be a rumour too far. Also it is hoped to see the phablet debut with Android 4.3.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 prototype?

Incidentally Samsung will hold a second Unpacked event a day after the "note the date" one. This 5th September event will probably showcase new Windows 8 devices reports The Verge.

HTC One Max hints and teaser video

HTC has launched a full on assault on social media hinting at "big things ahead". Using Twitter, Vine, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube a variety of hints have been dropped which it is thought point towards the next logical member of the well received HTC One family - the HTX One Max.

The video teaser above doesn't reveal a lot to me but others with perhaps greater imaginations think this video might star Robert Downey Jr. The "big things ahead" hint reminds me of the hints for the HTC mini, before that was confirmed. Prior to its announcement the HTC One Mini was teased as "little things that pack a big punch" and "smaller can be better".

And then there were three...

Is anyone eagerly awaiting either the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 or HTC One Max?

I cant wait for note3. Due for an upgrade soon so goodbye iphone4s. Used to use android with original sony xperia x1. But it was not a good user exp. however after testing current androids i cant wait. Its improved so much. Where as ios has largely remained the same( but slower with each update on older hardware)
I'm waiting for a letter through the door any day now for my upgrade. It's either this or the S4
Had my current Note since the end of October 2011, so I'll be due an upgrade this October, should be just about in time for the Note 3.
Any news about the bigger Note - the 10.1 one? I've got the current gen one and it's very impressive. Doesn't do anything spectacular (if you exclude S-Pen) but what it does do, it does without fuss.

Think you mean “Xperia X10”, not “Xperia X1” because the latter was a WinMo phone, not Android.

If it was the X10 then it's maybe a little unfair to say that it was a bad user experience - probably on a par (more or less) with what was about those days. But where I will agree is that Android's UE has come on by leaps and bounds, the ICS release being the big deal in my opinion. I've tried various UI layers and in truth the only one that I've had problems with is Sense, and even there I could probably retrain myself.
Yes. X10i. Lol.

It most likely was on par with what else was around at that time, but to me it was slow and clumbsy. Hell i even prefered my old nokia n96 to it. And yes, ICS is what settled my choice on what phone to get next. Trying out the note2 in stores and i was impressed with how smooth it all worked. Even on the lower models it runs fairly well.
Can not say ived tried the HTC sense much, but as for samsungs touchwiz, i like it.
