LG has unveiled its new Optimus G Pro smartphone. The new phone is scheduled to hit the South Korean streets in late February but it is as yet unknown whether it will be available in foreign markets. We should see a lot more of this 5.5-inch 1080p smartphone at the MWC 2013 in a week or so.
Curved glass display gives a 2.5D viewing experience
So what is special about this LG Galaxy Note 2 tribute? You can see in the subheading, above, the new Optimus G Pro possesses a screen made out of curved glass, that LG says provides a unique 2.5D viewing experience. It’s really hard to know what that means at this stage, the single official photo of this new Pro version of the Optimus G doesn’t show it from any angle which would give us a hint at the screen’s curvature. A video would have been more useful.

Stylus or not?
There seems to be a flood of phablets on the brink of launch but it seems like only Samsung’s big daddy comes with a custom made stylus and a stylus optimised software suite. I was seriously considering getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 a couple of months ago and the stylus was an important, attractive feature; to be able to use it for tablet style organisational duties and note-taking on a smaller-than-tablet screen instead of using my fat fingers.
I can’t see the selling points of any of these non-stylus equipped phablets over of Samsung’s original. Seriously cut price alternatives by ZTE or Huawei might get a few sales though, money talks. We will publish more LG Optimus G Pro details if anything significant is revealed.
