Google has launched a new Android digital movie rental store for UK customers giving them access to over 1,000 films.

Rentals start at £2.49 and include British flicks such as 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Bend It Like Beckham,' as well as big-budget blockbusters, including 'Green Lantern' and 'Fast & Furious Five.'

Rentals can be viewed up to 30 days after purchase, though they must be watched within 48 hours from the moment the film begins. Android users can download the Video app immediately from the marketplace, or rent films online from the official store - market.android.com/movies

The launch of the new cloud-based video rental service follows the release of Google’s eBook shop earlier this month, which offers users access to millions of books that can be instantly downloaded and viewed on any Android device.
