A few neat twists

The mark and execute function isn't the only change that's allows players to push out of the shadows and into the action either. With one of the most noticeable additions being last known position indicator. It seems like a really obvious thing to include in a game that's all about stealth and evasion. Actually when you think about it, it's odd that it hasn't been done previously, and it's incredibly simple. Basically, if Fisher's detected a ghostly outline of his exact position at the time he was spotted appears on screen. As a result you always know where the enemy thinks you are, allowing you to flank them with relative ease at a time when usually you'd be forced to run away and hide for a while until the alert dies down.

Unfortunately Convictions single player campaign really suffers because of all these changes. In the early going the heavy fire fights are broken up with large, almost sandbox like area's for you to sneak around in, which is great fun as the stealth sections are very well designed with multiple entry points and numerous ledges, pipes and vents that let you move around in total secrecy. Later in the game though these areas all but disappear completely and it turns into a cover based shooter, which is fun for a while but quickly becomes monotonous. The story itself is actually pretty good though, even if it is standard Tom Clancy thriller fare it's told in the past tense, which gives it an interesting twist or two and leads to some cool flashback moments but even those seem to die out around halfway through.
