It's the turn of some Mega Drive 'classics' this week on Wii's Virtual console with the release of Sega's Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Ecco: The Tides of Time and Golden Axe II.

Originally released in 1992 on the Sega Mega Drive, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 sees our speedy blue friend on an adventure to locate all the missing Chaos Emeralds before Dr.Eggman (AKA Dr.Robotnik) and thwart his evil plan to create a Death Egg warship. Featuring the first appearance of Sonic's trusty sidekick Tails, download the ring-tastic Sonic the Hedgehog 2 now for 800 Wii Points.

The second treat from SEGA this week is the hugely successful 1994 Sega Mga Drive title Ecco: The Tides of Time. Following on from the first Ecco the Dolphin title, the Vortex Queen has now made it to Earth and established a new hive. Players must take on the role of Ecco once again and navigate the depths of his underwater world to solve puzzles and take on the alien threat. Ecco: The Tides of Time can be yours for 800 Wii Points.

Next this week, Virtual Console takes on the evil forces of Dark Guld as SEGA's 1991 Sega Mega Drive classic Golden Axe II smashes its way on to Wii. Reacquaint yourself with old friends as once more Ax-Battler, Tyris-Flare and Gilius Thunderhead rise up and use their unique powers to recover the mighty Golden Axe. Golden Axe II is available now for 800 Wii Points.

For a final treat this week, travel across valleys, deserts and even the ocean floor as Turbografx shooter Dragon Sprit launches on Virtual Console. Originally released in 1989, players take on the role of crafty, young soldier Amul as they battle to save princess Alicia and destroy the evil serpent demon Zawell who has kidnapped her. Bestowed with special powers that turn them into a powerful blue dragon, players must locate and obtain additional abilities to help them reach their goal. Dragon Spirit is available to download now for 600 Wii Points.

These new titles bring the grand total of Wii Virtual console games to a whopping 105 titles in Europe.
