Since the launch of the Playstation 3, there's been many incidents of crooks trying to get their hands on the expensive hardware to sell on, but rarely do we hear excuses for stealing the machine like this one.

At a St. Louis EB Games store, a robber walked in, picked up a videogame, took it to the counter and then whipped out a gun. He then told the member of staff that he had to have a Playstation 3 because his family were being held hostage and he needed it in order 'to save them".

Of course, the shop keeper handed it over, how could he not when this theif's family could be in potential danger?

By the time the police turned up he'd predictably vanished.

It seems strange that the robber even presented such an excuse when he didn't need to, the guy had a gun in his hand, that should have been enough to scare the shopkeeper rigid.

Perhaps his bizarre excuse was true after all...

Strange man.. stranger shopkeeper… strangest excuse…

Now then.. where did I leave my gun?
Thats a very odd thing to do.

anyway, thanks for the PS3 and I didn't harm his family.
I really doubt this a real hostage situation, if someone had the power to take hold of your family and force you toget something i highly doubt they would ask for a £300 ps3, EPIC fail that guy. Probably find the gun was fake, most of the time it is
But if someone was pointing a gun which looked realistic at your head and told you to hand over your wallet or be shot… would you take the risk it was fake?

No i doubt i would, my comment wasnt really aimed at the shop keeper who gave him the ps3 but just mentioning it was most likely fake and something needs to be done about these fake guns >.<.
